Crafting and Using the Hammers

Hammer Variants

ExtraBotany registers a family of hammers: Aerialite Hammer, Elementium Hammer, Gaia Hammer, Manasteel Hammer, Photonium Hammer, Rhein Hammer and Shadowium Hammer. Each is crafted from its corresponding metal or quartz material at a crafting table.

Pick the hammer that matches the material you have the most of. Aerialite Hammer is the entry point if you have Aerialite Ingot. Manasteel Hammer uses Manasteel. Gaia Hammer uses Gaia Quartz. Elementium Hammer uses Elementium Quartz. Photonium Hammer uses Photonium Ingot. Shadowium Hammer uses Shadowium Ingot. Rhein Hammer uses Das Rheingold as its core.

What Hammers Do

Hammers are heavy tools for mining and combat. Use them to break blocks in a wider area than a pickaxe and to deal high melee damage. The Rhein Hammer is the top-tier option because Das Rheingold is a rare crafted item.

Craft the hammer you can afford first, then upgrade as you gather better materials. Keep a spare hammer in your inventory when mining long tunnels, since hammers take durability damage. Repair them at an anvil with the matching ingot or material. If you are short on the rare metal, start with Aerialite Hammer and work upward through Manasteel, Elementium, Gaia, Photonium and Shadowium.
