How to Use Entity Detector Rails and Entity Powered Rails

Entity Detector Rail

The Entity Detector Rail detects entities on the track and outputs a redstone signal. Lay it as part of a rail line, then connect redstone dust from the rail to a target such as a lamp, piston, or door. When a minecart, mob, or player passes over the rail, the signal fires. Use it for station indicators, automatic doors that open when a cart arrives, or counters that trigger when something rolls past.

Entity Powered Rail

The Entity Powered Rail powers minecarts when an entity is present. Place it in your rail line like a normal powered rail, and it will accelerate or hold a cart when something is on it. This lets you build boosters that only activate when a cart is actually there, saving power and reducing unnecessary redstone wiring along the track.

Building a Detection Circuit

Combine both rails in one line: put an Entity Detector Rail before a station to sense incoming carts, wire its redstone output to a door or lamp, and place an Entity Powered Rail where you want the cart to keep moving. Run redstone dust between components as needed. Both rails are made with shaped crafting recipes, so gather the ingredients from the recipe book first. Pair them with Panel Buttons or Illuminated Toggle Buttons for manual overrides at the station.
