Why Dirt Armor Is Your First Set

Dirt Helmet, Dirt Chestplate, Dirt Leggings, and Dirt Boots are the cheapest pieces you can make. They use dirt blocks, which you can dig by hand from any grass or dirt patch. No furnace, no mining, no mob drops required.

Step-by-Step Crafting

1. Break at least a stack of dirt blocks with a shovel or by hand.

2. Place a crafting table.

3. Open the crafting grid and arrange dirt in the helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots shapes one at a time.

4. Craft Dirt Helmet, Dirt Chestplate, Dirt Leggings, and Dirt Boots in sequence.

5. Equip all four pieces in your armor slots.

Dirt armor is disposable. When a piece breaks, dig more dirt and recraft it on the spot. This makes it ideal for your first night, for exploring caves before you have iron, or for keeping in a chest as a backup set. Do not enchant it or invest rare materials — save those for stronger sets like Copper or Amethyst.
