Harvesting Mushroom Caps

Mushroom Caps drop from large mushrooms found in dark forests and mushroom fields. Break the cap block with any tool; using an axe speeds up the process. Each cap block yields one Mushroom Cap item. You will need at least four caps to craft a Fairy Ring Core, and more if you plan to build multiple rings. Caps stack to 64, so gather a full stack before heading to a crafting table.

Crafting Recipes

Place four Mushroom Caps in a square shape in the crafting grid, then add one Glowstone Dust in the center slot. This produces one Fairy Ring Core. The core is the only item required to activate a fairy ring. You can also craft a Mushroom Stew by combining three Mushroom Caps and one Bowl — this restores hunger and gives a short night vision effect. To make a Mushroom Block for building, combine nine Mushroom Caps in a 3x3 grid. Use Mushroom Blocks to build decorative walls or to mark the path to your fairy ring. Keep in mind that Mushroom Caps are not renewable unless you replant large mushrooms using bone meal on mycelium.
