How to Craft the Basic Crafting Table and Your First Components

Build the Basic Crafting Table

Start by crafting a Basic Crafting Table. This is your entry point into larger grids. Place it down and open it to see a 3x3 layout that behaves like a normal crafting table but is required for many Extended Crafting recipes.

Use the Basic Crafting Table to craft Basic Components and Basic Catalysts. These are the tier-one ingredients that feed every later recipe. Combine them into Black Iron Ingots by processing Black Iron Slate and Black Iron Nuggets through the table's recipes.

Move Up the Tiers

Once you have Basic Components and Black Iron materials, craft an Advanced Crafting Table. This table accepts the same shaped and shapeless recipes but unlocks the next tier of ingredients: Advanced Components and Advanced Catalysts.

Repeat the pattern: use Advanced Components to craft an Elite Crafting Table, then an Ultimate Crafting Table. Each tier requires the components and catalysts of the tier below it, so keep a stock of Basic, Advanced, Elite, and Ultimate Components on hand.

If you need to craft on the move, make a Handheld Crafting Table. It gives you the same grid without placing a block. Keep one in your inventory while gathering materials for the next tier so you can convert nuggets and ingots into components without returning to your base.
