Locate and Mine Expanded Ancient Debris Veins Efficiently
Finding the Right Depth
Ancient Debris spawns most frequently in the deepest layers of the Nether. Travel to Y-levels where lava lakes are sparse and netherrack dominates. Strip mining or branch mining at these depths gives you the best chance of encountering expanded veins.
Mining Strategy
Bring a Diamond or Netherite pickaxe—wood, stone, and iron pickaxes cannot break Ancient Debris. Use a pickaxe enchanted with Efficiency to speed up your mining.
When you spot a single Ancient Debris block, pause and carefully mine around it. With this data pack, additional debris blocks are likely nearby, forming a larger cluster than vanilla Minecraft would generate. Clear the surrounding netherrack methodically to expose the full vein.
Safety Tips
Watch for lava pockets and ghasts while mining. Bring water buckets or a shield for protection. Mark your mining tunnels with torches or blocks so you can navigate back to your base. Consider mining in short sessions to avoid losing progress to unexpected hazards.
The expanded vein sizes mean fewer total mining trips needed to gather enough Ancient Debris for Netherite gear.
