Crafting and Using Compressed Hammers and Crooks

Ex Compressum adds a full ladder of compressed hammers: Compressed Wooden Hammer, Compressed Stone Hammer, Compressed Iron Hammer, Compressed Golden Hammer, Compressed Diamond Hammer, and Compressed Netherite Hammer. Each tier is crafted from its base material in compressed form, so you progress by compressing the material first, then shaping the hammer. Higher tiers break compressed blocks faster and are the tools you want when working through large stacks of Compressed Cobblestone, Compressed Gravel, or Compressed Sand.

The Compressed Wooden Crook is the compressed version of the crook. Use it the same way you would a normal crook, but it lasts longer and is the tool to bring when harvesting leaves for saplings and other drops.

Where to use them

Hammers break compressed blocks back into their loose components. Use a Compressed Stone Hammer on Compressed Cobblestone to get cobblestone back, or a higher tier on tougher compressed blocks like Compressed Netherrack, Compressed End Stone, or Compressed Soul Sand. The Ore Smasher is the specialized tool for ore processing — bring it when you want to crush ores rather than stone.

Automation alternative

If you would rather not swing a hammer, the Auto Hammer and Auto Compressed Hammer do the same job on a redstone-and-hopper setup. Feed compressed blocks in, collect the broken-down output, and keep your manual hammers for spot work.
