Finding and Using Dark Gems

Mining Dark Ore

Dark Gem comes from Dark Ore and Deepslate Dark Ore. Mine these with a pickaxe that can harvest the ore block; the drops feed almost every mid-tier EvilCraft recipe. Ore generates underground, so branch mining at typical ore depths is the reliable method. Bring a Gemstone Torch for light so you do not lose the vein in the dark.

Processing the Gem

Raw Dark Gem is used directly in many recipes. Crushed Dark Gem is produced by processing the gem further and is required for several advanced crafts. Dark Stick is another derived item used in tool and weapon recipes. Dark Block and Dark Power Gem Block are storage or decorative forms you can build once you have surplus gems.

Where Dark Gems Go

Dark Gems gate most of the mod's combat and utility items. Dark Power Gem is the upgraded form used in higher-tier recipes. Dark Tank uses dark materials in its construction, so stockpile gems before you start building storage. If you are following a progression path, mine a full stack of Dark Ore early so you are not blocked later when you need Dark Power Gem or Dark Brick variants for a base build.
