Brighten or Darken Your World's Overall Lighting

Access Lighting Controls

Press Right Shift to open shader options, then go to Shader Options and find the Lighting or Brightness section.

Adjust Ambient Light

Look for Ambient Brightness or Global Illumination sliders. These control the baseline light level across your entire world:

  • Increase to make caves, forests, and indoor spaces brighter
  • Decrease to deepen shadows and create more contrast

Fine-Tune Sunlight

Find Sunlight Intensity to adjust how bright direct sunlight appears. This affects daylight hours most noticeably. Pair this with Sky Brightness adjustments to keep the sky and ground lighting balanced.

Apply Block Light Adjustments

If torches and lanterns feel too dim or too bright, locate Block Light Intensity and adjust accordingly. This ensures artificial light sources match your preferred overall brightness.

Test Across Conditions

Check your changes during day, night, and in caves. Lighting should feel natural and readable without being washed out or overly dark. Small adjustments often work better than large ones.
