Maximize Volumetric Light Ray Effects
Understand Volumetric Rays
Volumetric light shafts are the god rays that stream through trees, buildings, and clouds. They're most visible during daytime when the sun is at certain angles. These rays respond to your world's geometry—they filter through leaves, gaps in structures, and clouds.
Optimal Viewing Conditions
Volumetric rays appear strongest:
- In forests and dense biomes where foliage blocks sunlight
- During morning and late afternoon when the sun is lower on the horizon
- Near water surfaces where rays reflect and scatter
- Inside caves or structures with openings to the sky
Enhance the Effect
To see rays more clearly, position yourself so the sun is behind trees or buildings relative to your view. Build structures with gaps, windows, or open roofs to create natural light shafts. Avoid looking directly at the sun. The effect is subtle by design—if rays seem faint, ensure you're on Medium or High quality preset, as Low preset significantly reduces this feature.
