Crafting and Using Shields: Buckler to Pavise

The mod ships a full shield family across bronze, copper, and diamond tiers. Picking the right one matters more than stacking the biggest.

Shield Sizes and Roles

• Buckler — smallest, lightest. Best when you need mobility.
• Rondache and Targe — small-to-medium, good all-rounders.
• Round Shield and Heater Shield — standard knightly coverage.
• Kite Shield and Tartsche — tall coverage, good against arrows.
• Pavise — the largest, meant for holding ground.
• Elliptical Shield — a distinct profile for varied blocking angles.

Each of these exists in Bronze, Copper, and Diamond variants. Match the material to your current tier.

Crafting Steps

Shields are made through the mod's crafting recipes using the metal of the tier you want. Gather the matching ingots or materials, then craft the shield shape you need. If you already have a lower-tier shield, check whether a smithing upgrade path applies before crafting from scratch.

Practical Use

Carry a Buckler while exploring and swap to a Pavise or Kite Shield when holding a position. The Corrupted Round Shield is a separate variant — craft it only if you specifically want that item, since it does not follow the standard metal progression.
