How to Block, Parry, Dodge, and Roll in Epic Fight
Blocking and parrying
Blocking and parrying are combat actions tied to your equipped weapon. Hold the block input while a weapon is in hand to guard against an incoming hit. A successful guard reduces or negates the damage depending on the attack.
Parrying is the timed version of blocking. Raise your guard just as an enemy attack lands rather than holding it early. The window is tight, so practice against slow, predictable mobs first. A parry rewards timing over raw defense, which makes it worth learning before you fight anything dangerous.
Dodging and rolling
Dodging and rolling are movement actions that get you out of an attack's path. Use the dodge input to step away from a swing, and the roll input to cover more ground quickly. Both are useful for repositioning around a mob that is winding up a heavy attack.
Rolling is the better choice when you need distance; dodging is the better choice when you only need to slip a single hit and stay in range. Chain a roll into an attack once the enemy's swing has passed.
Weapon class affects how these actions feel. A Dagger and a Greatsword do not handle the same way, so pick a weapon, then practice block, parry, dodge, and roll with that one weapon until the timing is familiar before switching.
