How to Craft Basalt Bricks, Tiles, and Cobble Variants

From Basalt to Building Blocks

Basalt is the base stone for this family. Once you have Basalt in hand, you can push it into three decorative branches: Basalt Cobble, Basalt Bricks, and Basalt Tiles. Each branch then expands into Slabs, Stairs, and Walls.

Use the stonecutter for the cleanest conversion. Place Basalt in the stonecutter and select the output you want: Basalt Cobble, Basalt Bricks, or Basalt Tiles. From any of those three, you can cut the matching Slab, Stairs, and Wall directly. For example, Basalt Bricks in a stonecutter yields Basalt Brick Slab, Basalt Brick Stairs, and Basalt Brick Wall. The same pattern applies to Basalt Cobble (Basalt Cobble Slab, Basalt Cobble Stairs, Basalt Cobble Wall) and Basalt Tiles (Basalt Tile Slab, Basalt Tile Stairs, Basalt Tile Wall equivalents).

Shapeless and Shaped Routes

If you do not have a stonecutter yet, the crafting table still works. Shapeless crafting converts raw Basalt into the cobble and brick forms. Shaped crafting handles the slab, stair, and wall layouts from the parent block. Keep one stack of Basalt as your source and branch outward as needed.

Plan your palette before cutting: Cobble reads rough, Bricks read structured, Tiles read smooth. Mixing all three in one build gives depth without needing any other stone type.
