How to Craft and Use Basalt Blocks in Environmental Materials

Turning Basalt into a Building Set

Basalt is the base block for a full family of decorative variants. Once you have Basalt in hand, run it through a stonecutter to produce the shapes you need without wasting material. From Basalt you can cut Basalt Slab, Basalt Stairs, and Basalt Wall for basic construction. For a rougher look, cut Basalt Cobble, then use that to make Basalt Cobble Slab, Basalt Cobble Stairs, and Basalt Cobble Wall.

Bricks and Tiles

For a cleaner masonry appearance, cut Basalt Bricks from Basalt, then produce Basalt Brick Slab, Basalt Brick Stairs, and Basalt Brick Wall from the bricks. Basalt Tiles follow the same pattern: cut Basalt Tiles from Basalt, then derive Basalt Tile Slab and Basalt Tile Stairs. Every slab, stair, and wall variant in the Basalt set is obtainable through stonecutting, so you never need a separate crafting table step once you have the parent block.

Building Tips

Mix Basalt Cobble walls with Basalt Brick stairs to break up flat facades. Use Basalt Slab on floors and Basalt Tiles on accent columns. Because all variants share the same stone palette, you can combine them freely in a single build without color clashes.
