How to Build a Steel Catwalk Walkway System

Laying the main span

Place Steel Catwalk blocks end to end to form the horizontal walkway. Each block connects visually to the next, so run them in a straight line or in L-shaped runs where you need a turn. For vertical transitions, place Steel Catwalk Stairs at the end of a run and continue with more Steel Catwalk above or below.

If you want the walkway raised off the ground, set Straight Thick Steel Pole blocks underneath as support columns. Cap the bottom of each pole with Straight Thick Steel Pole Head/Foot so the column terminates cleanly at the floor. For thinner supports, use Straight Thin Steel Pole with Straight Thin Steel Pole head/foot. Straight Treated Wood Pole and Straight Treated Wood Pole Head/Foot work the same way if you prefer a wood look, and Straight Treated Wood Pole Support adds a brace where a pole meets the walkway.

Railings and access

Run Steel Railing along the open edges of the catwalk to keep the walkway looking finished and to act as a barrier. Raised Steel Catwalk gives you a variant with a raised lip if you want a different profile along the same run.

For access points, place Metal Rung Ladder against a wall or pole to climb up to the walkway level. Staggered Metal Steps give you a compact staircase alternative when you do not have room for a full run of Steel Catwalk Stairs. Steel Floor Grating can be laid as a see-through floor section where you want light or visibility to pass through the walkway.
