Setting Up an Ender Lock on a Chest

What the Ender Lock Does

The Ender Lock is the locking component of the Ender Key system. It pairs with the Ender Key so that an Ender Key Chest can be secured. Craft the Ender Lock using its crafting_shaped recipe, then apply it to the chest you want to protect.

Step-by-Step Locking

1. Craft an Ender Key Chest and place it.

2. Craft an Ender Lock.

3. Craft an Ender Key so you have a matching key to open the chest later.

4. Apply the Ender Lock to the Ender Key Chest.

5. Test the lock by interacting with the chest while holding the Ender Key — it should open. Interact without the key — it should stay shut.

Keep your Ender Key safe. Anyone holding a matching Ender Key can open the chest, so treat the key like the chest's password.

Shared vs Private

Ender Lock and Ender Key are the shared-access pair: any player with a matching key can open the chest. If you want the chest tied to you alone, use the Private Ender Lock and Private Ender Key instead. The Private Ender Security Card also exists for private setups. Choose the shared pair for group storage and the private pair for personal storage.
