Reduce Bloom Effect on Bright Light Sources
Open Shader Configuration
Press Shift + O in-game to access Ember Shaders settings.
Locate Bloom Controls
Find the bloom or glow section in the options menu. Bloom affects how brightly glowing blocks (like lava, torches, and lanterns) spread light into surrounding pixels, creating a soft halo effect.
Adjust Bloom Intensity
Look for sliders controlling:
- Bloom strength — lower values reduce the halo size and intensity around light sources
- Bloom radius — controls how far the glow spreads outward
- Bloom threshold — determines which brightness levels trigger the bloom effect
Test in Different Lighting
Visit areas with many light sources—a torch-lit cave, a lava lake, or a room full of glowstone. Adjust bloom down gradually until the effect feels subtle rather than overwhelming. Some players prefer minimal bloom for a cleaner look; others like it for atmosphere.
Save Your Preference
Once satisfied, the settings persist across sessions. You can create multiple profiles if you want different bloom levels for different playstyles.
