How to Use the Bug Zapper

Place the Bug Zapper

The Bug Zapper is a placeable block. Set it up in an area where bugs appear so it can deal with them automatically instead of you chasing each one. Position it near your base or near a spot where you have seen bugs spawning.

Collect the Drops

Once the Bug Zapper is running, bugs that pass through it are handled for you. Collect the resulting bug items and move them to your Fryer. The raw items you can expect to gather this way include Aphid, Camel Spider, Carpenter Ant, Centipede, Cicada, Cricket, Crimson Tiger Beetle, Dung Beetle, Fire Ant, Grasshopper, Jumil Bug, Locust, Scarab, Scorpion, Slugs, Sow Bug, Termite, Wood Termite, and Witchetty Grub.

Feed the Fryer

Take everything the Bug Zapper collects and run it through the Fryer. Each raw bug becomes its cooked version — for example Cricket becomes Cooked Cricket and Scorpion becomes Cooked Scorpion. Keep Vegetable Oil available for recipes that call for it.

Scale Up

Because the Bug Zapper works on its own, you can leave it running while you do other tasks. Check back periodically, empty the drops, and refill the Fryer. This turns a single Bug Zapper into a steady supply of raw bugs for cooking.
