Customize Ambient Lighting Across Biomes
Access Lighting Controls
Open the Iris shader settings and navigate to ambient lighting or global illumination options. Earthshade Shaders applies consistent lighting rules across all biomes while allowing fine-tuning.
Adjust Ambient Light Levels
You can modify:
- Ambient brightness: Controls overall light in shadowed areas. Higher values brighten caves and forest floors; lower values create moodier atmospheres.
- Sky brightness: Affects how much light the sky contributes to your world.
- Biome-specific adjustments: Some versions allow per-biome tweaking for deserts, forests, and underground areas.
Create Your Preferred Atmosphere
Brighter ambient lighting makes exploration easier and highlights block details. Darker settings create dramatic shadows and increase contrast. Test changes in different biomes—forests respond differently than open plains.
For survival gameplay, moderate ambient brightness helps visibility without washing out shadows. For creative building, brighter settings showcase your structures' details. Remember that time of day also affects lighting; test at sunrise, noon, and sunset to see the full effect.
