Adjust Shadow Quality and Softness
Access Shader Settings
Open the Iris shader options menu while in-game by pressing the key bound to shader settings (default varies by launcher). Look for the Earthshade Shaders configuration panel.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Locate the shadow-related sliders in the settings menu. You'll find options to adjust:
- Shadow distance: Controls how far shadows render from your character. Increasing this makes distant terrain cast shadows, but impacts performance.
- Shadow softness: Higher values create softer, more realistic shadow edges. Lower values produce sharper, more defined shadows.
- Shadow intensity: Adjusts how dark shadows appear across your world.
Apply and Test
After adjusting each setting, observe changes in real-time. Shadows on terrain, trees, and structures will update immediately. If performance drops, reduce shadow distance or softness. Save your preferred configuration—Iris remembers settings between sessions.
For best results, adjust one setting at a time so you can see its individual effect on your world's appearance.
