Create a Dungeon-Themed Castle Using Cobblestone

Planning Your Castle Layout

Start by deciding on the castle's footprint. Use the Dungeons Cobblestone as your primary wall block—its textured pattern creates authentic dungeon aesthetics without requiring multiple block types. Sketch out walls, towers, and gates on flat terrain or use terrain tools to carve out a foundation.

Building Cohesive Walls

Place cobblestone in your main walls, then layer in complementary dungeon stone textures for variety. The Dungeons Cobblestone pairs cleanly with other dungeon-styled stone packs, so alternate between cobblestone and darker stone blocks to add visual depth. Use mossy variants on lower sections to suggest age and weathering.

For towers, stack cobblestone vertically and cap with darker stone or wood. Create crenellations (notches) along the top using alternating blocks of cobblestone and air gaps.

Adding Details

Break up large flat walls by embedding darker stone blocks in patterns, or use slabs and stairs to create texture. Place torches, lanterns, or other light sources in recessed areas. Consider adding wooden doors, iron bars on windows, and chains for authentic dungeon atmosphere.

Mossy cobblestone works especially well in shadowed areas and around water features, reinforcing the abandoned ruin aesthetic.
