Crafting Light and Dark Armor Sets

Gathering the Upgrades

Light and Dark armor each have four pieces: Light Helmet, Light Chestplate, Light Leggings, Light Boots, and Dark Helmet, Dark Chestplate, Dark Leggings, Dark Boots. The set-defining items are Light Upgrade and Dark Upgrade, which are applied through smithing_transform recipes at a smithing table.

Smithing the Sets

1. Obtain a base armor piece and the matching Upgrade item (Light Upgrade for Light, Dark Upgrade for Dark).

2. Open a smithing table.

3. Place the base armor in the armor slot, the Upgrade in the addition slot, and the required template if the recipe calls for one.

4. Take the finished Light or Dark piece out.

5. Repeat for helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots.

Light Upgrade and Dark Upgrade are the only progression items you need per piece. If you are short on materials, craft the chestplate and leggings first — they give the most protection per Upgrade spent. Store finished pieces in a Light Vault or Dark Vault to keep the sets separated. Both sets use the same smithing workflow, so once you learn one you can produce the other by swapping the Upgrade item.
