Opening and Using a Gold Dungeon Portal

Building the Portal

A Gold Dungeon Portal is the gateway into a dungeon. Place the Gold Dungeon Portal block where you want the entrance, then surround or frame it with Gilded Portal Block to complete the structure. The Portal Keystone and Portal Crown Block are the decorative and structural pieces that finish the frame — place the Portal Crown Block at the top of the arch and set the Portal Keystone where the frame meets.

Activating the Portal

You need an inscribed key. Inscribe a Blank Portal Key at a Key Inscribing Station to get a usable portal key, then use that key on the Gold Dungeon Portal. The portal lights and you can step through into the dungeon.

If the portal refuses to activate, check three things:

1. The frame is complete with Gilded Portal Block, Portal Keystone, and Portal Crown Block.

2. Your key is inscribed, not blank.

3. You are using the correct key type for a portal — a Blank Personal Dimension Key or Blank Teleporter Key will not open a dungeon portal.

After You Return

Dungeons contain Damaged Key Inscribing Station blocks, Ist Rune, Sunlight Medal, Bell of Secrets, Homeward Pearl, and other loot. Carry a Homeward Pearl so you can leave without retracing the whole dungeon. Bring blanks back to your Key Inscribing Station to inscribe the next key you need.
