Converting Diamond Glass Blocks into Panes, Slabs, and Stairs

One Block, Three Shapes

Every full Diamond Glass block converts into three shapes: a Pane, a Slab, and Stairs. This applies to all seventeen colors, including Rainbow Diamond Glass. The full block is the only starting point, so you must craft it before you can make any of the other three forms.

Step by Step

1. Craft the full Diamond Glass block in the color you want.

2. Decide which shape you need: Pane for windows, Slab for floors and ledges, Stairs for steps and trim.

3. Convert the full block into that shape in the crafting grid.

4. Repeat for each block you want to convert.

A full block spent on Panes cannot become Stairs, so convert only as many blocks as you need for each shape.

Sandstone Conversions

The three Diamond Sandstone blocks follow the same pattern but with only two derived shapes each. Diamond Sandstone, Chiseled Diamond Sandstone, and Smooth Diamond Sandstone each convert into a Slab and a Stairs. There are no Pane variants for sandstone.

Storage Tip

Keep full Diamond Glass blocks in one chest and converted Panes, Slabs, and Stairs in separate chests by color. Because conversion is one-way, an organized chest of full blocks lets you respond to any build change without wasting material. If you run low on a shape, convert more full blocks rather than breaking placed ones.
