Building with Diamond Sandstone: Plain, Chiseled, and Smooth

Three Sandstone Blocks

Diamond Sandstone comes in three full-block forms:

• Diamond Sandstone
• Chiseled Diamond Sandstone
• Smooth Diamond Sandstone

Diamond Sandstone is the base. Chiseled Diamond Sandstone and Smooth Diamond Sandstone are crafted from Diamond Sandstone. That means you only need one source block type to reach all three.

Slabs and Stairs for Each

Each of the three sandstone blocks has a Slab and a Stairs variant:

• Diamond Sandstone Slab, Diamond Sandstone Stairs
• Chiseled Diamond Sandstone Slab, Chiseled Diamond Sandstone Stairs
• Smooth Diamond Sandstone Slab, Smooth Diamond Sandstone Stairs

Craft the full block first, then convert it into Slab or Stairs. There are no Pane variants for sandstone.

Planning a Build

Because Chiseled and Smooth are both derived from Diamond Sandstone, a single Diamond Sandstone production line feeds every sandstone shape. Decide how much of each texture you want before converting, since a block turned into Stairs can no longer be used as a full block. For large floors, Smooth Diamond Sandstone Slabs are a clean choice. For walls with depth, mix Diamond Sandstone Stairs with Chiseled Diamond Sandstone full blocks. Keep a reserve of plain Diamond Sandstone so you can craft more Chiseled or Smooth later.

Getting Diamond Sand

Diamond Sand is the root material. Gather or craft Diamond Sand first, then turn it into Diamond Sandstone, then branch into Chiseled and Smooth. Diamond Sand also has a smelting recipe if you prefer processing it in a furnace.
