How to Make Activated Charcoal and the Block of Activated Charcoal

From Charcoal Bit to Activated Charcoal

Activated Charcoal is the core processed material of the Desolation Mod. The chain starts with Charcoal Bit, which you combine through crafting to reach Activated Charcoal. Once you have Activated Charcoal, you can compress it into a Block of Activated Charcoal for storage or decoration. Because the block is a compact form of the item, it is the efficient way to stockpile Activated Charcoal instead of filling chests with loose pieces.

Where Activated Charcoal Goes

Activated Charcoal feeds directly into the mod's filtration gear. It is the key ingredient behind the Air Filter, which you craft and then use to keep the air around you breathable. The same material line supports the Mask and the Goggles, the two wearable pieces in the set. Build a small production corner: one chest for Charcoal Bit, one for Activated Charcoal, and one for Blocks of Activated Charcoal. Craft Air Filters in batches so you always have a spare, and keep a Mask and Goggles on hand before heading into ash-heavy terrain. If you are short on space, store surplus as Blocks of Activated Charcoal and break them back down when you need loose Activated Charcoal for crafting.
