Collecting and Storing Ash

Ash Pile is the loose form of ash you pick up while exploring. Compact Ash Piles into a Powdered Ash Block when you want to store or build with them. Powdered Ash Block is a full block, so it works as a cheap bulk material for walls, floors and filler in builds where you do not want to spend Charred Planks. Keep one chest for loose Ash Pile and another for Powdered Ash Block so you can see at a glance how much you have.

Working With Primed Ash

Primed Ash is the processed ash product and the one to watch. Set aside a dedicated area for it rather than mixing it into general storage, since it is the material you will want to grab quickly. The smelting step in the mod's processing chain is where heat-based conversion happens, so keep a furnace or equivalent running near your ash stockpile. A practical loop: gather Ash Pile on trips, craft it into Powdered Ash Block for storage, and pull from that stock whenever you need to produce Primed Ash. Pair the ash workflow with your Activated Charcoal line so both processed materials are made in the same corner of your base, cutting down on running back and forth between stations.
