How to Build Sea Mine Defenses

Choosing a Sea Mine

Sea mines are water-based traps that detonate or damage anything passing nearby. Four variants exist:

  • Normal Sea Mine — standard explosive.
  • Guardian Sea Mine — themed around guardian behavior.
  • Puffer Sea Mine — puffer-themed variant.
  • Sea Mine Mob Floor Trap — a floor-mounted version that triggers on mobs.

Placing Mines in Water

1. Locate the water channel, moat, or ocean edge you want to defend.

2. Place mines along the seabed in a line so swimmers must pass them.

3. Space them so a single trigger does not waste the whole line.

4. For dry approaches, use Sea Mine Mob Floor Trap set into the floor where mobs walk.

Combining With Other Water Traps

Stack mines with Runny Lava only where you want the water replaced — otherwise keep the two separated. Use Floaty Deadly Spawner above the water to drop mobs into the mine field. Back the channel with a Monster Stream Spawner on the shore so mobs keep entering the water. For land-side coverage, ring the shore with Mundane Spike Trap or Poison Spike Trap to catch anything that climbs out.
