Make Glitches More Visible in Dark Environments
Understand Glitch Visibility
Datamosh Shaders create effects through contrast — bright and dark lines, color shifts, and pixel displacement. In dark caves or night scenes, these effects can become subtle and hard to see because there's less color information for the shader to work with.
Enhance Glitch Appearance at Night
- Increase edge detection sensitivity — This makes the bright and dark compression lines around glitch blocks more pronounced, even in low light
- Boost color bleeding strength — More aggressive color smearing becomes visible even when the base colors are dark
- Raise the shimmering noise effect — The noise around moving objects and sharp edges becomes more apparent with higher intensity
- Increase block size slightly — Larger blocks are easier to see in dim lighting
Use Lighting to Your Advantage
Position yourself near torches, glowstone, or other light sources to see glitches more clearly. The effect is most dramatic at the boundary between lit and dark areas. Experiment with different times of day and lighting conditions to find where the shader's visual impact is strongest.
