How to Build and Use the Paranoia Altar

Crafting the Altar

The Paranoia Altar is the centerpiece of Darker Depths progression. Gather the materials the recipe calls for from the mod's own blocks — Forsaken Bronze Ingot, Petrified Planks, and a Living Crystal are the kind of components you should have on hand before you start. Once assembled, place the Paranoia Altar on solid ground where you have room to move around it.

Operating the Altar

Interact with the Paranoia Altar to trigger its effect. The altar ties into the mod's darker atmosphere, so expect the surrounding area to react. Keep Death Anchor, Block of Scorched Remains, and Ash nearby if you want to theme the room around it.

Supporting Setup

Build a floor of Grimestone Bricks or Darkslate Bricks around the altar so it reads as a ritual space. Light it with Glowshroom Lanterns or Glowshroom Lamps rather than torches to stay on-theme. If you plan to summon enemies, place a Mob Placer or use the Body Snatcher Spawn Egg and Glowshroom Monster Spawn Egg in the same room so the altar has something to work with.

Practical Notes

Keep the altar away from your bed and storage. The Paranoia Altar is meant to be used deliberately, not left running in your base. Wall it off with Aridrock Bricks Wall or Duskrock Bricks Wall if you want to contain whatever it produces.
