What the Death Anchor Is For

The Death Anchor is a block you place to mark a fixed point in the Darker Depths. It pairs naturally with the Paranoia Altar and with Mob Placer setups, giving you a stable anchor block that does not move when terrain around it changes.

Building Around It

Place the Death Anchor on a solid foundation of Aridrock, Darkslate, or Grimestone. Do not set it on Ash or Dry Sprouts — those are decorative ground covers and will not hold the anchor visually. Once placed, build a frame of Chiseled Darkslate Bricks or Chiseled Grimestone Bricks around it so the anchor reads as intentional architecture rather than a dropped block.

Combining with Other Blocks

Use the Death Anchor alongside a Mob Placer to define where mobs enter a room. Put Petrified Pressure Plate on the floor in front of the anchor so you get a signal when something crosses the threshold. Light the area with Glowshroom Lantern or Glowshroom Lamp so the anchor stays visible without needing torches. If you want a matching palette, use Darkslate Bricks Stairs and Darkslate Bricks Slab to build a raised platform under the anchor, then cap the corners with Darkslate Pillar.
