How to Use Runes and Tomes

Placing Runes

Builder Rune, Galactic Rune, Illager Rune, Nyctography Rune, Pigpen Rune and Runelic Rune are decorative or functional rune blocks. Place them on the ground or on walls to mark areas, label builds, or add themed decoration. Each rune has its own appearance, so pick the one that fits the structure you are building.

Using Tomes

Tome of Enchanting and Tome of Shadows are crafted items. Craft them at a crafting table using their shaped recipes. Tome of Enchanting is used for enchanting-related tasks, and Tome of Shadows is used for shadow-related effects. Keep the tome in your inventory when you need its function, and combine it with the appropriate blocks or stations for the task at hand. Pair runes with tomes when building themed rooms: place Runelic Rune or Nyctography Rune around a Tome of Shadows setup, or Builder Rune and Galactic Rune near a Tome of Enchanting station.
