How to Use Mob Filters to Control Which Mobs Trigger Your Traps
Placing a Mob Filter
Mob Filter blocks let you decide which entities a trap affects. Place a Mob Filter (Hostile) to target hostile mobs, Mob Filter (Animal) for passive animals, Mob Filter (Player) for players, or any of the other variants such as Mob Filter (Undead), Mob Filter (Arthropod), Mob Filter (Illager), Mob Filter (Piglin), Mob Filter (Villager), Mob Filter (Golem), Mob Filter (Slime), Mob Filter (Zombie), Mob Filter (Water), Mob Filter (Raid), Mob Filter (Named), Mob Filter (Child), Mob Filter (Passenger), Mob Filter (Pet), Mob Filter (Equipment), Mob Filter (Fire Immune) or Mob Filter (Freeze Immune).
Combining Filters with Damage Plates
Set the filter next to or in front of a Damage Plate, Player Damage Plate, Poison Plate, Wither Plate, Smite Plate, Bane Plate, Maim Plate, Flame Plate, Frost Plate, Hunger Plate, Weakness Plate, Slowness Plate, Fatigue Plate, Darkness Plate, Levitation Plate, Misfortune Plate or Ominous Plate. Only entities matching the filter will be affected by the plate. For example, place Mob Filter (Hostile) before a Damage Plate so your farm only hurts hostile mobs, or Mob Filter (Player) before a Player Damage Plate to build a player-only trap. Stack several filters along a corridor to sort mobs before they reach the plates.
