Building a Safe Base Before Nightfall
Choosing Your Base Location
Select a spot with access to water, trees, and flat ground. Hilltops offer good visibility and natural defense against mobs. Avoid building directly next to caves or in dense forests where mobs spawn easily.
Quick Shelter Construction
Chop trees immediately to gather wood. Craft basic planks and sticks, then build a simple box structure at least 3 blocks high—mobs cannot jump that high. Use wood, stone, or dirt for walls. Leave space for a door and small windows for light.
Inside, place a crafting table and furnace. Build a bed as soon as you gather wool from sheep; sleeping sets your spawn point and skips the night. Add torches throughout to prevent mob spawning indoors.
Expansion
Once nightfall passes, expand your base with storage chests, a food farm, and defensive walls. Consider building a perimeter fence to keep hostile mobs at distance. As you gather better materials from mining, upgrade your shelter with stone or stronger blocks for long-term survival.
