Enable or Disable Monochrome Color Mode

Open Shader Configuration

Access your shader options through Video Settings → Shaders → Shader Options during gameplay. The CRT Monochrome Shaders mod provides toggles for its core visual effects.

Locate the Monochrome Toggle

Find the monochrome or color mode setting in the shader options panel. This controls whether the shader removes all color (true monochrome) or applies a tinted grayscale effect.

Toggle Between Modes

Switch the monochrome setting on to experience pure black-and-white visuals, or turn it off to allow subtle color tinting that still maintains the retro aesthetic. Some configurations offer multiple monochrome styles—experiment to find your preference.

Observe the Effect

Monochrome mode affects how all blocks, mobs, items, and the sky appear. With it enabled, your world becomes a classic black-and-white television experience. Disabled, you may see sepia tones or amber tints typical of older computer monitors.

Combine with Other Settings

Monochrome works best when paired with appropriate scanline and contrast settings. Adjust these together to achieve an authentic 1980s monitor or television appearance that matches your vision.
