Cooking with Smelting, Smoking, and Campfires
Choosing a Heat Source
Croptopia recipes use smelting, smoking, and campfire cooking alongside crafting. Use a furnace for smelting, a smoker for smoking, and a campfire for campfire cooking. Each method handles different items, so build all three near your kitchen.
What to Cook Where
Smoking is fast and suits meats and quick items such as Bacon and Beef Jerky. Smelting handles items that need a furnace, including baked goods and processed ingredients. Campfire cooking is useful for simple cooked foods you want without fuel management.
Combining with Crafting
After heating ingredients, combine them at a crafting table or with the All Purpose Food Press. For example, cooked meats go into Beef Stew, Beef Stir Fry, and Beef Wellington. Baked items pair with fruit for Apple Pie, Banana Cream Pie, and Baked Crêpes.
Practical Setup
Place furnace, smoker, campfire, crafting table, and the All Purpose Food Press within a few blocks of each other. Keep raw ingredients in one chest and finished meals in another. This layout lets you move from raw crop to plated dish without walking across your base.
