Haunting Recipes and Automation in Ultimate Factory

guide

Haunting in Create: Ultimate Factory transforms standard Overworld items into Nether and End materials by passing them through an air stream blown across soul fire by an Encased Fan.

How Haunting Works in Create

The haunting mechanic relies on Create's bulk processing system. When an Encased Fan blows air forward across a soul fire block, the resulting ethereal particles transform items resting in the slipstream.

To construct a haunting station:

  • Place an Encased Fan connected to a rotational shaft. Ensure the fan rotates in the blowing direction. If the fan pulls air inward, reverse its rotation direction using a gearbox.
  • Directly in front of the fan, place a block of Soul Fire, a Soul Campfire, or a Soul Torch. A Soul Campfire is recommended because items cannot accidentally catch fire or drop into lava.
  • Position a Depot or Conveyor Belt 1 to 3 blocks beyond the fire in the straight line of the air stream.
  • Drop eligible items onto the depot or transport them slowly along the belt. After exposed to the particles for a short duration, they convert into their haunted form.

Create: Ultimate Factory provides six valuable haunting transformations:

  • 1 Apple -> 1 Chorus Fruit
  • 1 Charcoal -> 1 Coal
  • 1 Obsidian -> 1 Crying Obsidian
  • 1 Spider Eye -> 1 Fermented Spider Eye
  • 1 Basalt -> 1 Netherrack
  • 1 Poppy -> 1 Wither Rose

Industrial Applications and Automation Loops

1. Automated Coal Synthesis

Standard Minecraft tree farms produce infinite wood logs, which smelt into Charcoal. By routing charcoal along a haunting belt, players convert the renewable fuel into genuine mineral Coal. This coal can then be compressed into coal blocks for diamond production.

2. Dimensionless Chorus Fruit

Normally, chorus fruit requires traveling to outer End islands. By routing apples from automated oak apple orchards across a soul fire fan, players produce steady supplies of Chorus Fruit directly in the Overworld.

3. Renewable Crying Obsidian

Combine automated water and lava placement to freeze standard Obsidian, then pass the obsidian blocks through the haunting stream. Each block converts into Crying Obsidian, which can then be crushed into Powdered Obsidian for advanced respawn anchor or portal builds.

4. Infinite Netherrack Generation

Using a standard basalt generator (lava running over blue ice placed adjacent to soul soil), a mechanical drill continually breaks newly formed Basalt. The broken basalt blocks are fed directly onto a depot positioned in front of a soul campfire fan. The basalt haunts into Netherrack, which can subsequently be fed into a Mechanical Mixer with flint and lava to synthesize redstone dust.

Processing Speed and Batch Size

Unlike crafting tables or furnaces, an Encased Fan processes an entire item stack at once when resting on a Depot. Dropping a full stack of 64 charcoal converts into 64 coal in the same time required to convert a single piece, making bulk depot haunting exceptionally efficient.

When designing conveyor belts, adjust the belt speed using speed controllers so that moving items spend at least 4 to 6 seconds within the particle stream to complete the conversion before reaching the output funnel.
