Compacting Mechanics and Recipes in Ultimate Factory

guide

Compacting in Create: Ultimate Factory uses a Mechanical Press mounted over a Basin to compress solid items and pumped fluids into decorative stone, blaze rods, and diamonds.

Mechanical Press and Basin Setup

To assemble a compacting station:

  • Place a Basin on solid ground or directly above an item chute or depot.
  • Mount a Mechanical Press exactly two blocks above the basin so that the press head points downward into the basin cavity.
  • Supply rotational force to the press head using kinetic shafts, cogs, or gearboxes. The press requires at least 32 RPM to function efficiently, and higher rotation speeds directly shorten the pressing duration.
  • For recipes that demand liquids, connect a Fluid Pipe to the side of the basin and pump in the required fluid volume using a Mechanical Pump.

When all ingredient counts and fluid volumes match a valid compacting recipe, the mechanical press automatically triggers, extending its piston downward into the basin to execute the compression.

Full Compacting Recipe List

Create: Ultimate Factory provides nine compacting recipes spanning three distinct operational categories:

Ore Stone Generation

  • Asurine: 4 Zinc Nuggets + 2 Gravel + 100mb Water -> 2 Asurine
  • Crimsite: 5 Iron Nuggets + 2 Gravel + 100mb Lava -> 2 Crimsite
  • Ochrum: 2 Gold Nuggets + 2 Gravel + 100mb Lava -> 2 Ochrum
  • Veridium: 7 Copper Nuggets + 2 Gravel + 100mb Lava -> 2 Veridium

These four recipes allow factory lines to synthesize Create's decorative stone variants directly from common metal nuggets and gravel, removing the need to locate distant natural stone belts.

Structural Stone and Deepslate

  • Deepslate: 1 Stone + 50mb Lava -> 1 Deepslate
  • Tuff: 9 Cobblestone + 50mb Lava -> 1 Tuff
  • Calcite: 1 Gravel + 3 Bone Meal (no fluid required) -> 1 Calcite

The deepslate recipe provides an infinite source of dark building blocks by simply feeding regular stone from a cobblestone generator into a basin with small quantities of lava.

High-Value Resources

  • Diamond: 9 Coal Blocks + 100mb Lava -> 1 Diamond
  • Blaze Rod: 6 Blaze Powder (no fluid required) -> 1 Blaze Rod

The diamond recipe requires piping lava directly into the basin using mechanical pumps and fluid pipes, providing a balanced end-game sink for large automated coal reserves.

Engineering Automated Compactors

To achieve maximum throughput with fluid-assisted compacting:

1. Fluid Buffering and Pumping

Connect a dedicated Fluid Tank directly adjacent to your compacting basins. Because each diamond requires 100mb of lava, a single standard 1000mb bucket of lava will support ten diamond compaction cycles. Use a Mechanical Pump driven at 16 or 32 RPM to maintain a steady fluid level inside the basin. The basin automatically accepts incoming fluids up to its 1000mb internal storage capacity.

2. Smart Item Ingestion and Extraction

Install a Brass Chute or Brass Funnel on the output side of the basin configured to accept only the completed product (such as Diamond or Asurine). This prevents raw nuggets, coal blocks, or gravel from being extracted prematurely before the press completes its stroke.

For input logistics, use a Mechanical Arm or a brass funnel set to drop full batches. For example, configure the input funnel to dispense exactly 9 coal blocks before locking, preventing uneven item counts from clogging the basin.

3. Rotational Speed Optimization

Powering your mechanical press at 64 RPM or higher dramatically shortens the compression dwell time. While a press operating at 16 RPM takes several seconds per stroke, a 64 RPM press completes each compression cycle in under two seconds, allowing high-speed production lines to process dozens of blocks per minute.
