CoralReef Mod: Telling Hard Coral Reef and Soft Coral Reef Apart

Two Reef Blocks, Two Roles

CoralReef Mod contains eight blocks total. Six of them are named for a color: Brown Coral, Cyan Coral, Lime Coral, Magenta Coral, Orange Coral, and Pink Coral. The remaining two are Hard Coral Reef and Soft Coral Reef. New players often treat the two reef blocks as interchangeable, but they are separate entries and you should track them separately.

Sorting Your Collection

When you empty a chest of CoralReef Mod blocks, split the stack into three groups: the six colored corals, Hard Coral Reef, and Soft Coral Reef. The colored corals are easy to tell apart by name. The two reef blocks are the ones to watch, because a quick glance at a chest full of coral can make them blur together.

A reliable habit is to store Hard Coral Reef and Soft Coral Reef in their own slots, away from the colored corals. That way you always know whether you are holding a reef block or a colored coral before you place it.

For building, treat Hard Coral Reef as your solid structural block and Soft Coral Reef as the lighter accent block. Both place directly like any other block, so the only decision is which of the two you want in a given spot.
