Crafting the Tombstone

Place the Tombstone block to mark where your grave will appear. The Tombstone is the anchor for your death grave: when you die, your items are stored in a grave at the Tombstone's location rather than scattered on the ground.

Use a Grave Key to open your grave and retrieve your items. The Grave Key is consumed on use. If you want a reusable key, craft an Enchanted Grave Key using the tombstone:enchanted_grave_key recipe — this key is not consumed when opening a grave.

Grave Types

Several grave blocks exist for decoration or specific use: Normal Grave, Simple Grave, Original Grave, Cross Grave, and Subaraki's Grave. These are placeable blocks you can craft and arrange. The Tombstone itself is the functional block tied to your death point.

If you lose your Grave Key, you can still recover items by breaking the grave block directly, though this may scatter contents. Keep a spare Grave Key in a safe chest or use the Enchanted Grave Key for repeated recoveries.

Marble Decoration

Grave blocks pair with marble building sets: White Marble, Blue Marble, Green Marble, Carmin Marble, and Dark Marble. Each has Slab, Stairs, and Wall variants. Use stonecutting to convert marble blocks into these shapes efficiently. Build a cemetery or memorial around your Tombstone using these blocks.
