Start from Basalt Bricks

Craft Basalt Bricks first. From Basalt Bricks you can produce Basalt Brick Slab, Basalt Brick Stairs, Basalt Brick Wall and Basalt Brick Gate. Craft Basalt Tiles from Basalt Bricks as well, then make Basalt Tile Slab, Basalt Tile Stairs, Basalt Tile Wall and Basalt Tile Gate.

Plain basalt pieces

If you want the raw stone look, craft Basalt Slab, Basalt Stairs, Basalt Wall and Basalt Gate directly. These match the plain Basalt block and work well as a base course under the brick or tile variants.

Vertical accents

Craft Basalt Pillar and Basalt Corner Pillar to break up flat walls. Place Basalt Pillar between window openings and Basalt Corner Pillar at the outside corners of a room. A common pattern is plain Basalt Slab at the floor line, Basalt Bricks for the wall, Basalt Tile Stairs as a cornice, and Basalt Pillar every few blocks for rhythm.
