How to Use Glass Panes for Windows and Railings

Panes vs Full Blocks

Every family has a pane form: Clear Glass Pane, Connecting Glass Pane, Scratched Glass Pane, and the stained panes such as Clear White Stained Glass Pane, Connecting White Stained Glass Pane, and Scratched White Stained Glass Pane. Panes occupy a thin plane in the block, so they suit windows, railings, and fences where a full block would be too heavy.

Crafting Panes

Craft panes from their matching full block using the standard pane shaped recipe. Clear Glass makes Clear Glass Pane, Connecting Glass makes Connecting Glass Pane, and each stained block makes its matching stained pane.

Building with Panes

Place panes in a row and they connect to each other and to adjacent full blocks. Use Connecting Glass Pane where you want the run to look continuous, and Scratched Glass Pane where you want visible wear. For colored windows, pick the stained pane that matches your build: Clear Light Blue Stained Glass Pane for a bright window, Connecting Black Stained Glass Pane for a dark frame, and so on. Panes break and drop themselves, so you can rearrange a window without losing materials.
