Using Shapeless Recipes to Uncompress Any Block

How decompression works

The mod includes crafting_shapeless recipes alongside the shaped ones. Every compressed block can be broken back down without a fixed grid layout — just place the compressed block in the crafting grid and take the output.

The general rule

  • One Compressed block of a given tier → nine blocks of the tier below it.
  • One Compressed block at 1x → nine of the raw material.

This applies across every line: Compressed Cobblestone, Compressed Deepslate, Compressed Cobbled Deepslate, Compressed Dirt, Compressed Clay, Compressed Copper, Compressed Diamond, Compressed Block of Coal, Compressed Block of Redstone, Compressed Block of Lapis, Compressed Block of Quartz, and Compressed Block of Endstone.

Step-by-step

1. Open a crafting grid.

2. Place the compressed block you want to break down.

3. Take the output, which is nine of the next tier down.

4. Repeat until you reach the raw material.

Why it matters

Because decompression is shapeless, you never need to memorize a layout to unpack. Store materials at high tiers for space, then walk them down tier by tier whenever a recipe or build needs the raw form. Keep a note of which tier you are holding so you know how many steps remain to reach the base material.
