How to Craft Compressed Cobblestone (1x) and Climb the Tiers

Start at 1x

Place nine Cobblestone in a 3x3 crafting grid to produce Compressed Cobblestone (1x). This is the entry point for the entire cobblestone compression line.

Climb to higher tiers

Each higher tier is built from nine of the previous tier:

  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (1x) → Compressed Cobblestone (2x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (2x) → Compressed Cobblestone (3x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (3x) → Compressed Cobblestone (4x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (4x) → Compressed Cobblestone (5x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (5x) → Compressed Cobblestone (6x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (6x) → Compressed Cobblestone (7x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (7x) → Compressed Cobblestone (8x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (8x) → Compressed Cobblestone (9x)

Uncompress when needed

Every step is reversible. A shapeless recipe turns one Compressed Cobblestone (1x) back into nine Cobblestone, and the same pattern applies at every tier: one block of a given tier yields nine of the tier below it. Use this to recover raw Cobblestone from deep storage without mining again.

Practical use

Compressed Cobblestone tiers are dense storage. A single Compressed Cobblestone (9x) holds the equivalent of 9^9 Cobblestone, so a chest of high-tier blocks replaces an enormous pile of loose stacks. Keep one tier of each level on hand so you can compress and uncompress on demand.
