Compressing Stone Family Blocks: Cobblestone, Deepslate, and Cobbled Deepslate

Three parallel lines

Compression works the same way for Compressed Cobblestone (1x)–(9x), Compressed Deepslate (1x)–(9x), and Compressed Cobbled Deepslate (1x)–(9x). Each line is independent, so Deepslate and Cobbled Deepslate do not mix.

Building each tier

Start each line by placing nine of the raw block in a 3x3 grid:

  • 9x Cobblestone → Compressed Cobblestone (1x)
  • 9x Deepslate → Compressed Deepslate (1x)
  • 9x Cobbled Deepslate → Compressed Cobbled Deepslate (1x)

Then chain upward using nine of the previous tier:

  • 9x Compressed Cobblestone (1x) → (2x), continuing to (9x)
  • 9x Compressed Deepslate (1x) → (2x), continuing to (9x)
  • 9x Compressed Cobbled Deepslate (1x) → (2x), continuing to (9x)

Reversing

Shapeless recipes convert any tier back to nine of the tier below, and the 1x block back to nine raw blocks. Use this to reclaim building material from storage.

When to use which

Compressed Cobblestone suits bulk filler and redstone-free builds. Compressed Deepslate and Compressed Cobbled Deepslate are useful when mining deep and you want to bank the stone you dig without hauling stacks to a chest. Keep the three lines in separate chests to avoid mixing them during compression.
