Which Plants Compress

This mod registers five-tier chains for the following plants: Acacia Sapling I–V, Birch Sapling I–V, Allium I–V, Azure Bluet I–V, and Blue Orchid I–V. Each of these exists as both an item and a block entry, so you can hold them in inventory or place them in the world at any tier.

Compressing a Harvest

When you clear a forest or a flower field you end up with stacks of saplings and flowers that clog chests. Take the base sapling or flower and run it through the crafting grid to get Tier I, then feed Tier I back in for Tier II, and continue up to Tier V. The recipes are registered as both crafting_shaped and crafting_shapeless, so if a fixed grid pattern does not produce the next tier, try placing the required count loosely in the grid instead.

Placing and Reclaiming

Because each tier is also a block, you can place a Tier V Allium or Acacia Sapling directly into the world as a decorative or storage block. Break it to get the same tier back, then run it down the chain in reverse if you need the base sapling for planting. Keep Tier I and Tier II separate from Tier III–V in your storage so you always know which end of the chain you are pulling from when you need to replant.
