Compressing Crafting Materials: Books, Bowls, Bricks and Blaze Powder

Material Chains

Four crafting-material lines are registered with five tiers each: Book I–V, Bowl I–V, Brick I–V, and Blaze Powder I–V. These are the items you tend to overproduce — books from a sugar cane and cow farm, bowls from a wood farm, bricks from a clay pit, and blaze powder from a blaze farm.

Compressing Each Line

For each material, take the base item and craft it into Tier I, then feed Tier I back in for Tier II, and repeat up to Tier V. The mod registers both crafting_shaped and crafting_shapeless recipes, so if a fixed grid does not produce the next tier, place the required count loosely in the grid. Blaze Powder compresses the same way as the solid items even though it is a powder — the tier chain still applies.

Using Compressed Stock

When you need the base material for brewing, crafting, or building, decompress one tier at a time from the top down. A Tier V Book entry is the storage form; plain Book is the working form. Keep a chest for each material with Tier I–II on one side and Tier III–V on the other, and always decompress to the exact tier a recipe asks for rather than assuming any tier will substitute.
