How to Craft and Use an Oak Barrel

Crafting the Barrel

Open a crafting table and craft an Oak Barrel using Oak planks in a shaped recipe. The Barrel is a storage block, so once crafted, place it down and right-click to open it.

Using the Barrel

Inside the Barrel interface, move items in and out the same way you would with a chest: click to pick up a stack, shift-click to transfer a full stack, and close the screen when you are done. Breaking the Barrel returns it to your inventory along with everything stored inside, so you can rearrange your base freely.

Matching Barrels to Your Build

Every wood type has a matching Barrel. If you are building with Spruce, craft a Spruce Barrel; if you are in a jungle, craft a Jungle Barrel. The full set includes Acacia Barrel, Bamboo Barrel, Birch Barrel, Cherry Barrel, Crimson Barrel, Dark Oak Barrel, Jungle Barrel, Mangrove Barrel, Oak Barrel, Pale Oak Barrel, and Spruce Barrel. Colored Barrels are also available: Black, Blue, Brown, Cyan, Gray, Green, Light Blue, Light Gray, Lime, Magenta, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, and the rest of the dye colors. Use colored Barrels to color-code storage rooms — for example, a Red Barrel for redstone and a Green Barrel for plants.
