Using Interfaces to Access a Colossal Chest

Why you need an Interface

A Colossal Chest is a single storage block, but you often want to pipe items in and out or reach it from a different side. Interface blocks handle this. They come in the same eight materials as the chest: Interface Wood, Interface Copper, Interface Iron, Interface Silver, Interface Gold, Interface Diamond, Interface Obsidian, and Interface Netherite.

Attaching an Interface

1. Craft an Interface of the same material as your Colossal Chest.

2. Place the Interface against the chest structure, replacing or adjoining a Chest Wall block of that material.

3. Right-click the Interface to open the chest inventory through it.

4. Point hoppers, pipes, or other item transport at the Interface to insert or extract items.

Match the Interface material to the chest material. An Interface Iron on a Colossal Chest Gold structure will not connect. If you are unsure which material a chest uses, look at the Chest Wall blocks forming its shell.

Multiple access points

You can attach more than one Interface to the same chest, so a single Colossal Chest can be loaded from one side and unloaded from another. Each Interface gives its own access face, which is useful when you want separate input and output lines without running everything through one block.
