Test Block and Item Visibility for Color Blind Players

Preparing Your Test Area

Before testing, gather the blocks and items you want to check. Place them in a well-lit area so shader effects are clearly visible. Avoid caves or dark locations where lighting interferes with color perception testing.

Running a Visibility Test

1. Activate a color blindness simulation mode in your shader settings

2. Look at your placed blocks and items from different distances and angles

3. Note which colors become hard to distinguish or blend together

4. Pay special attention to:

  • Colored concrete, wool, or terracotta combinations
  • Dyed leather armor or banners
  • Redstone components and their visual states
  • Glowing blocks or particles

Making Adjustments

If certain blocks become indistinguishable, redesign using:

  • Blocks with different textures or patterns instead of just color
  • Brightness contrast (dark vs. light blocks)
  • Shape variety to create visual separation

Repeat this test across all color blindness modes to ensure your build works for everyone.
